Our client is a European leading company in the production of viscose fibres which are used across a wide range of industries from textile to feminine hygiene. Due to a successful global expansion, the company wants to enter the Chinese market.
As part of its international expansion plan, the client reached out to Daxue Consulting to acquire China’s tampon market overview including insights of key players and consumers.
To get the full understanding and scope of China’s tampon market, we divided our research into two steps:
Step 1: Market overview
Step 2: Consumer insights
The main objective of this step was to acquire a tampon market overview including size, growth and trends, brand and product segmentation as well as a deep-dive into key players’ procurement strategies to understand whether the Chinese sustainable tampon market is relevant and attractive for clients’ products.
In addition to thorough desk research, we carried out in-depth interviews with market insiders but also scrapped online sales data from key e-commerce platforms.
In this step, we focused on understanding Chinese female consumers’ perception towards sustainable and healthy tampons, and consumption behaviors and preferences, to identify preferred tampons types and brands and barriers when it comes to using tampons.
To do so, we used social listening tools on key social media platforms, extracting posts and comments related to tampons and other relevant keywords. We also organized an online survey with 600 participants (half of those who use tampons, and half that don’t). In this step, just like before, we carried out 25 in-depth interviews, this time with consumers, to acquire a better understanding of their preferences.
We delivered our key findings to the client, including market overview, key players analysis, sales data on tampons on key e-commerce platforms, consumption trends, barriers, and consumer insights, and equipped our client with go-to recommendations for the next steps in the Chinese market.
