China’s reforestation programs and trees planted

Since 1981, China has planted over 78 billion trees across the country, increasing forest area coverage from 12% in 1981 to 23% today. China’s forest area now stands at over 220 million hectares, with a forest carbon storage of 9.2 billion tonnes. In the coming decades, China will continue its afforestation efforts to help achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
