Andros is a French family-owned company that makes fruit-based products for consumers and businesses. It has operated in China’s food and beverage industry since 1998.

Objective

As Andros expanded its retail product portfolio, it needed to better understand Chinese consumers’ food consumption habits and taste preferences. The company approached Daxue Consulting to develop product concepts and validate them with consumers.

Research process & methodology

Daxue Consulting combined market analysis and direct consumer feedback to develop product concepts aligned with Chinese preferences. The approach focused on:

  • Consumer segmentation: Identify target consumers through analysis of best-selling innovations, evolving food consumption routines, and emerging health beliefs
  • Consumer preference mapping: Deep-dive into consumption habits, decision-making criteria, and usage occasions across different consumers

 

The project mainly leveraged the following methodologies:

  • Online diary research with 4 consumer segments
  • 6 series of focus groups with 3 consumer segments
  • 9 product concept tests
  • Strategic workshop with the client’s marketing and R&D teams to develop product concepts
